Vehicle Fuel Management

Lesson Highlights

Name of the lesson

Vehicle Fuel Management

Purpose of the lesson

This lesson is intended to provide Galooli users with an understanding of how Galooli supplies fuel management and monitoring services for vehicles.

Target Audience

End-users of the system such as technicians, service providers, back-office, organization managers, etc.

It is highly recommended to go through the contents in the order in which they appear.

What is the purpose of Galooli fuel management?

Galooli provides comprehensive and effective data for customers’ use and separates itself from its competitors with its sophisticated fuel algorithm. With this solution, site & fleet managers, generator owners, and drivers can make better operational decisions to improve fuel efficiency, reduce expenses, and to minimize fuel theft and fuel fraud.

Galooli’s fuel management & monitoring solution provides organizations with:

  • Accurate information on fuel usage

  • Detection of irregularities or drops (caused by leakages or theft)

  • Reduce fuel loss and theft

  • Accurate fuel billing based on actual consumption

  • Reduce fuel consumption by optimizing the energy mix

  • Improve fuel efficiency rate

  • Refuel planning based on fuel prediction

Real Time Data

  • Fuel level in the tank

  • Fuel events:

    • Low fuel level/empty tank

    • Refuel

    • Abnormal fuel consumption (leakage or theft)

Statistical & Summary Information

  • Dashboards: Provides fuel activity within a selected time frame for a specific asset or on a group level:

    • Overall refueled

    • Operational fuel consumption

    • Overall fuel consumed

    • Total fuel expenses

    • Fuel expenses trend

    • Fuel consumption rate

    • Top refuels & drops

  • Reports

    • Fuel events & refueling reports

    • Detailed report for analysis and investigation of fuel behavior and activity

Vehicle Fuel Management

Galooli’s vehicle fuel management and monitoring solution provides fleet managers with the capability to better manage their fuel expenses, compare between assets, and allow better decision making using reliable data.

Galooli's vehicle fuel management solutions include:

  • A behavior fuel management algorithm that takes into consideration not just fuel level parameters, but also asset type, the status of the asset, driving behavior, country of operation, and much more.

  • Provides accurate fuel consumption over time.

  • Provides fuel behavior events and reports, such as refueling, fuel costs, etc.

  • Provides irregular fuel activity alerts and reports in order to stop fraud and unauthorized behavior

  • Fuel management is a part of the full OPEX management solution and it should be treated that way – other parts and alerts in the system should be configured in order to have a comprehensive OPEX control.

Vehicle Fuel Management Hardware

Galooli provides support and sells a variety of fuel management hardware for vehicles. In order to learn more about the installation and configuration of these devices, please refer to the following documentation:

Vehicle Fuel Management Configurations

IO Configuration

IO configuration is required to set the fuel-related events and to display the fuel information properly in the various applications of the Galooli solution. The process is as follows:

  1. Go to Manager Application >> My Units >> Locate the unit >> Configuration tab >> Under the ‘IO’s tab’ add new Analog

  2. Provide a name for the IO and search for “FleetBasic.Fuel_Main” in the input bar >> choose the relevant calibration table >> mark the Panorama Display and the Percentage Display (if you prefer to present the fuel level in percentages)

  3. If the fuel tank is the only tank available or if the tank in question is the main tank, select “Main Fuel Tank”.

If the tank is a secondary or backup tank, do not select this option.

  1. Click “Apply” and “Save” to complete process

Events Configuration

Fuel management events provide users with real-time alerts and notifications. Fuel events notifications are triggered immediately upon event detection to allow for quick intervention. All the information pertaining to fuel drop and refueling volume will be updated in the Galooli solution.

A detailed explanation of how to create an event can be found at the following link - Events

User can choose the desired notifications method when a specific event occurs:

  • Email

  • SMS

  • Push Notification in the Galooli mobile application

  • Any combination of the three

Users may set multiple events of each type and name them as required.

Fuel event types for user setup:

  • Low Fuel - Set in Analog Event with the desired threshold

Note! Low fuel level thresholds should be set in accordance with tank volume.

  • Fuel Drop - Set in Fuel Events

  • Full Tank - Set in Analog Events with the desired threshold

  • Empty Tank - Set in Fuel Events

  • Sensor Disconnected - Set in Digital events. Relevant only for fuel sensor installations

  • Sensor Reconnected - Set in Digital Events. Relevant only for fuel sensor installations

  • Refueled - Set in Fuel Events

Fuel events can vary based on the method used to measure fuel. The most common fuel event setting is as follows:

Low and full tanks should be configured based on the size of the tank and it is not recommended to wait for the tank to be too low before refueling.
