Stationary Assets Installation & Configuration

Lesson Highlights

Name of the lesson

Stationary Assets Installation & Configuration Flow

Purpose of the lesson

The objective of this lesson is to provide the user with a detailed description of the:

  • Pre-Installation

  • Installation it self

  • Configuration processes

Target Audience

End-users of the system such as technicians, service providers, back-office, organization managers, etc.

It is highly recommended to go through the contents in the order in which they appear.

Pre-Installation

Prior to performing the installation, technicians should become familiar with the equipment installed on the site. The site survey is one of the steps that significantly reduces installation time and improves the accuracy of the technicians work on the day of installation.

The form consists of a technical review of the components of the telecom site. It is designed to plan the future installation on the site and calculate how many and which Galooli gateways need to be prepared in advance.

Installation

The installation process, which is usually performed by a qualified technician, plays a critical role in receiving accurate data from the site. In order to facilitate the installation and its results, it is important to carry out the process properly and with advance preparation.

  • Prior to arriving on site, review the bill of materials (BOM) list and ensure you have all the necessary equipment and hardware. The technical booklet provides detailed information about the hardware that should be installed.

  • Installation Form - It is very important to use the installation form (prepared in advance by Galooli) before and during installation. Upon arrival at the site, the form must be opened immediately.

Configuration Process

The configuration process of a new gateway in an organization is a crucial step in receiving proper data from the gateway and obtaining the maximum amount of accurate data from the Galooli solution.

There are several steps involved in the configuration process. Some are the same for all gateways, while others are specific to each gateway. Follow the instructions carefully in order to avoid missing important details.

Power Center Basic Configuration

Step 1 - Connection to Power Center

To perform configuration through the Power Center platform, it is necessary to connect to the gateway. Depending on the type of gateway, the connection can be physical (Serial) or over the air (OTA). Please refer to the following link for details regarding each Gateway connection method - https://galooli.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KP/pages/2461597702

Step 2 - Basic Configuration

Different gateways require different configuration processes, but the process of adding sensors to the gateway is the same.

Please refer to the following link for various configuration documents - https://galooli.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KP/pages/2461597702

Galooli Solution Basic Configuration

Organization Tree

Open the Galooli Solution >> Click on the “Manager” application >> Click on “My Units” >> It is recommended that you create meaningful clusters and groups in your organization tree that will assist you in managing all future gateways. https://galooli.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KP/pages/2802450433

Unit Configuration

Open the Galooli Solution >> Click on the “Manager” application >> Click on “My Units” >> Locate the relevant gateway within the "Stock" cluster and click on it.

In the event that you own an active gateway in your organization, you can copy all or part of the configurations to the new gateway using the following ways:

Copy Settings

  • Copy settings from the organizational KPI settings - . It is important to note that this new gateway will automatically receive the relevant configurations if your organization has an organizational KPI configured.

  • Copy Settings from the unit level settings-

  • Clone Unit -

If this is the organization's first gateway, please follow the steps below.

Manual Configuration

  • Locate the relevant unit within the "Stock" cluster and click on it.

Overview Tab

  • The "Overview" tab should be field according to the organization preferences:

    • The ID should be provided by the Galooli support team.

    • Set the gateway a meaningful Name.

    • Set the gateway Activation Date. As a general rule, the activation date will be the date when the unit was created, but if the unit was created before today in the Stock cluster, you may need to adjust the activation date accordingly.

    • Set the “Asset Type”. Asset types should correspond to the types of units that the gateway connects to.

    • Set the "Stationary Unit" to "Yes".

    • Set the destination Email and SMS for future notifications. Email and phone numbers can be set at the cluster or group level as opposed to the unit level.

    • The remainder of the information can be filled in as needed.

Configuration Tab

  • On the "Configuration" tab >> Click on the “IO’s” submenu >> Add inputs and outputs, followed by calibration tables. On the basis of the IO’s settings, it will be possible to define events in the system later on - . Using the technical booklet provided by Galooli, it is possible to determine what inputs and outputs need to be included.

  • On the “Configuration” tab >> Choose the “Device Configuration” submenu >> Choose the layout code appropriate to the type of the site. Using the technical booklet provided by Galooli, it is possible to determine the layout code.

  • On the “Configuration” tab >> Choose the “Device Configuration” submenu >> Check the display configurations of the necessary components in the relevant sections. In order to find the relevant sections, it is recommended that you work with the Power Center and the technical booklet. Those configurations affect dashboards and reports in terms of alerts and calculations.

  • On the "Configuration” tab >> Select the “Maintenance", set the relevant maintenance dates.

  • On the "Configuration” tab >> Select the “Installation Setup", set all the relevant installation setups.

  • On the "Configuration" tab >> Choose “KPI” submenu, set all the relevant fields and thresholds that affect dashboards and reports in terms of alerts and calculations. It is recommended that you work with the Power Center and the technical booklet.
