Gasoline Tanks - Safety Procedures
Working with gasoline tanks requires additional safety measures due to the highly flammable properties of gasoline liquid:
Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling gasoline, even if you didn’t spill any. If gasoline spills the container only 95 percent full. This will allow gasoline to expand during temperature changes. on clothing, remove the clothing immediately
Don't use any electrical device on or near the gasoline tank
Drilling in gasoline tanks is prohibited
Immediately report leaks, spills, or failures of the safety equipment
Use gasoline in open areas where there will be plenty of fresh air and keep it away from your skin and eyes. Avoid prolonged breathing of gasoline vapors
Never smoke or light a fire in the proximity of the gasoline tank
Always wear protective equipment when handling gasoline including the following:
Eye/Face Protection:Â Not required but it is good practice to wear safety glasses or chemical safety goggles.
Skin Protection:Â Wear chemical protective clothing e.g. gloves, aprons, boots
