Techbase NPE X500 M3 Installation and Configuration

Preparation

Required Equipment

  • USB to USB mini (SRV) cable for configuration via the computer

  • Ethernet cable

  • Screwdriver (Slotted & Phillips)

  • Micro SIM Card

  • Techbase NPE X500 M3 unit

  • Techbase NPE X500 M3 unit GSM antenna

  • Power cables for the Techbase NPE X500 M3 unit + two-pin female connector- two cables with a thickness of 0.5mm. The length of the cables is determined by the distance between the power supply and the Techbase NPE X500 M3 unit

  • Power source for the Techbase NPE X500 M3 unit - 9 ~ 30 V DC

  • Galooli Metal Box/Tray (If necessary)

  • Power source for the Galooli gateway Metal Box/Tray - 18-75v DC (Because of the DC to DC converter)

  • All the Sensors, Accessories & Devices that you wish to connect to the Techbase gateway.

Configuration Preparation

This file should be extracted after the download via any zip platform like 7-zip or WinRAR.

  • Download Balena Etcher - The configuration platform that you should download and install.

  • Download rpiboot - A background program that you should download and install.

  • Technical Booklet - Provided by Galooli Support team.

Note! Make sure your computer recognizes the COM port at the “Device Manager”. Otherwise, install the proper driver.

Sim Card and Antenna Connection

  1. Make sure the SIM card s properly inserted and activated. Insert the SIM into the device until you hear a click

Each unit should be fitted with a micro SIM card which will enable cellular data communication between the Techbase and Galooli cloud servers.
  1. Connect the GSM antenna to the left dedicated socket.

Power Connection

  1. Connect the Techbase NPE X500 M3 to a power source (9 ~ 30 V DC)

  1. Ensure that the LEDs are permanently illuminated.

  1. Using the pinout table below, connect all analog and digital devices to the Techbase gateway.

Computer Connections

  1. Ensure that the USB to USB mini communication cable is connected to the Techbase NPE X500 M3. Connect the USB mini side to the Techbase NPE X500 M3, but do not connect the USB side to your computer yet.

Galooli Image Upload

  1. Open the "Balena Etcher" platform you downloaded earlier.

  2. Extract the "Galooli Image File".

  3. Upload the extracted file to the "Balena Etcher".

  1. When the "Galooli Image File" has been uploaded, connect the USB cable to the computer (the USB end connects to the computer and the mini USB end connects to the Techbase NPE X500 M3).

  2. Once the computer recognizes the connection, click on "Select target".

 

  1. Select the relevant target and click "Select"

In the event that your computer does not recognize the USB, disconnect the power from the Techbase NPE X500 M3, wait a minute, and connect the power again.

 

  1. Please click on the "Flash" button and wait until the upload and validation have been completed.

  1. Ensure that the USB cable is disconnected from the computer and the Techbase NPE X500 M3.

  2. Upon completion of the process, power down the Techbase NPE X500 M3, wait 5 seconds, and restore the power.

Power Center Configuration

  1. Connect all the relevant sensors, accessories, and devices that you wish to monitor to the Techbase NPE X500 M3 and ensure that all devices are powered.

  1. Open the Power Center, log-in, select the "Elara" active device, click on the "Elara" tab, and select the "Configuration" tab.

  1. Please ensure that the Server URL is the one provided by the Galooli support team.

  1. You should add to the Power Center all the relevant sensors, accessories, and devices that you physically connected to the Techbase NPE X500 M3 in the first step.

  1. Save the data with all of the configurations that you have made using the "Save As" option. Save the configuration file (gib file). In the following steps, this file will be used.

The File names must be numerical.

Gateway Configuration

  1. The ethernet cable should be connected to the left socket (LAN1 - eth0) of the Techbase NPE X500 M3 and to the computer at the other end.

 

  1. On your computer, set a static IP address of 192.168.1.10.

  1. Enter the following IP address in the URL line of your browser - 192.168.1.11.

  2. Please enter the following username and password:

  1. When you have successfully entered the website, please click on the "Registration" button.

  1. As soon as you have entered your credentials successfully, please click on "System", then "Application Reset", and ensure that the status of your registration is "Valid".

  1. Please click on "Configuration" and upload the configuration file you created in the previous step (gib file) to the “Parameters file” row.

  1. In order to obtain an indication of the progress of the upload, go to "System" and ensure that all the parameters are correct and valid

Afterward, go to "Status" and ensure that the host is "True" and you will see all digital and analog devices connected to the Techbase NPE X500 M3. Verify that the sensors on the list are the same sensors you configured in the Power Center.

If the information is not displayed, you should upload the file again and then click "Application Reset".

  1. Copy the unit ID

Unit Creation

In order to complete the installation and configuration of the Techbase NPE X500 M3, the unit must be created in the Galooli solution.

  2. Once you have created the unit, ensure that the sensor data is visible and updated in the Panorama Application.

Existing Unit Configuration

The Techbase NPE X500 M3 and its sensors can be configured in two different ways:

OTA (Over the air connection) - Recommended

  1. Open the Power Center (if the power center was already open, close it, and re-open it).

  2. Open the “Active Device” drop-down menu and select “Elara”.

  3. Open the “Connect Via” drop-down menu and select the “OTA” connection.

  4. Provide your Techbase NPE X500 M3 ID and the relevant login parameters

  5. Navigate to the “Elara” tab.

  6. Navigate to the “Configuration” tab. 

  7. Click the “Read Configuration” button.

  8. Edit, add, and delete all the devices you require.

  9. Click the “Write Configuration” button to save the changes. 

  10. Click the “Reset” button.

Ethernet Physical Connection

  1. Go to the Galooli gateway configuration website as described in the following directions - Techbase NPE X500 M3 Installation and Configuration | Gateway Configuration

  2. As soon as you have completed the registration process, download the gib file from the gateway configuration site.

 

  1. Using the Power Center, upload the gib file that you downloaded previously. There will be a list of all the devices configured to the Techbase NPE X500 M3.

  1. You may edit, add, and delete all the devices you require.

  2. Save the new gib file after the new configuration.

  1. Open the Galooli gateway configuration site and click on "

Configuration" and upload the configuration file you created in the previous step (gib file) to the “Parameters file” row.
