Victron GX Ethernet Connection & Configuration

This document describes the ethernet connection between the Elara gateway and the Victron GX. It then describes the process for configuring the Victron GX system virtual device.

A router with at least three ethernet ports is required for this connection to be established.

Connection and Configuration Processes

  1. Ensure that your router has at least three ethernet ports.

  2. Through the ethernet connection, connect the router to your computer.

  3. Write down the IP address of the router in the computer's network configuration. Open any browser and verify that you are able to access different websites.

  4. Connect the Victron Victron-GX to the router while the router is connected to the computer.

  5. It is necessary to cancel the Wifi settings of the Victron Victron-GX. To cancel Wi-Fi settings on the Victron Victron-GX, click the following link-https://vrm.victronenergy.com/installation-overview:

    1. Enter the username and password provided by the supplier

       

    2. Make sure that the Victron Victron-GX receives a network signal from the router. "Last update" should reflect the most recent time and date.

       

    3. Click on “Remote Console” >> Settings >> Wi-Fi >> Create access point should be set to “Off”.

    4. Click on “Remote Console” >> Settings >> Services >>Modbus TCP >> “Enable”

      e. On the same screen, click on the arrow from the right of the “Enable” word and enter the relevant IDs.

       

  6. Connect the Elara gateway to the router using an Ethernet cable

Configuration

  1. Connect the computer to the Elara via serial connection - https://galooli.atlassian.net/l/cp/ffa16RY7

  2. Make sure the Elara Ethernet port version is up-to-date - https://galooli.atlassian.net/l/cp/5fRL1DfX

  3. Copy the Victron Victron-GX IP address via https://vrm.victronenergy.com/installation-overview:
    Click on “Remote Console” >> Settings >> Ethernet >> IP address.

     

  4. Add the Victron Victron-GX to the Elara gateway. Verify that the IP address is the same as that mentioned in the previous step


5. Click on “Write Configuration

Victron GX Components Configuration Process

Following successful connection to the Victron GX and configuration via the Power Center, the Victron-GX can display its components in two different ways:

  • The configuration of the “Victron-GX system" component provides a unified view of all the various components that can be connected to Victron-GX. It provides a relatively complete picture but with fewer data points

  • Configuring each component separately
