The Cut Through via the SNMP Over Ethernet allows you to get data and even set it depending on the parameters type.
The example below illustrates how to use SNMP over Ethernet communication for a rectifier, but you may use this method for all devices connected via SNMP over Ethernet.
Please note that before starting the process, you must verify whether the parameters you are interested in can be set.
Cut Through Progress
Download the “MIB Browser” - SNMP Monitoring Software.
Open the Power Center >> Connect to the Elara gateway via serial/OTA connection >> Click on “Read Configuration” >> Click on “Status” >> Click on “Status” tab. Now you can see all the information about the rectifier that connected to the Elara gateway.
3. The next step is to locate and copy 3 different parameters in order to be able to make the "Cut Through":
Rectifier IP - Select the "Configuration" tab >> Double-click the "Group: Rectifier” >> Copy the Device IP of the rectifier and save it for later.
Network Gateway & Elara IP - Select the "Configuration" tab >> Double-click the “Group: Device” >> Double click the “Local Network” >> Copy the “Network Gateway” and the “Elara IP”
4. Click on “Direct-Comm” >> Choose “Ethernet (SNMP: LOCALHOST) >> Fill in the information you obtained in the previous step >> Keep the “Direct-Comm” window open.
"Gateway" = Network Gateway
"Destination IP" = Rectifier IP
“Elara IP" = Elara IP
5. Open the “MIB Browser” platform >> Type “localhost” in the address box >> Click on “Advanced” >> In the window that appears, type the correct “Read Community” and “Write Community” based on your requirements >> Click “Ok”
In order to obtain the "Read Community" and "Write Community" codes, please refer to the Galooli Knowledge Base or to the rectifier company.
6. Write the "OID" for the relevant data parameters (An "OID" represents a specific address of a parameter).
In the event that you wish to obtain data via the OID, please select "Get" and then "Go".
In the event that you wish to set data via the OID, please select “Set” and then “Go”.
Obtaining the OID can be accomplished by contacting the rectifier company.
Get Parameters
A rectifier parameter result can be viewed in the "Result Table" after you select the "Get" operation and run the address. The parameters will be added to the table separately each time you run a different OID.
As you can see in the picture above, we are able to get the value of the “System Voltage” via the Rectifier. The value that we receive from the Cut Through is "5132", now we need to take this value and convert it to the ratio given next to the relevant OID on the Power Center.
To do this, take the last five digits of the OID from the MIB browser, locate the OID in Power Center, look at the ratio, and determine the value (5132/10=513)
Set Parameters
It is important to verify that the parameters can be edited before attempting to modify them
Upon selecting the "Set" operation and running the address, a new window will appear allowing you to modify the parameter value.
Using the Power Center, you must convert the new value according to the ratio described there (50.50 multiplied by 100 equals 5050).
