Converter’s Configuration
Connect the USB to RS485 converter to one of the computer’s available USB ports.
Insert two wires into the converter:
USB to RS485 Terminal | Communication Protocol | Wire colors |
Terminal #1 | RS485 A | Orange |
Terminal #2 | RS485 B | Blue |
Connect the other ends of the RS485 cables to the Sensor/Unit. Connect the
RS-485 A & B interface wires to the EX20 (directly or via TR7-DLS & TR7-BZR on the terminal blocks). If connecting on the terminal block, RS-485 A connects to TR7-DLS and RS-485 B connects to TR7-BZR.
Open the “
Device Manager” “Window” app and verify that the allocated COM port is visible.
Open “
PowerCenter.”
In the “
Connect Via” drop-down menu make sure that you can view the allocated COM port.
If your computer is unable to detect the converter, install the RS485 manually.
RS485 Driver Manual Installation
In most computers, the driver will be installed automatically once the converter is connected to the computer. However, in some cases, it is required to install the driver manually.
The purpose of this section is to explain how to integrate the RS485 converter into your computer.
Make sure you have an internet connection.
Connect the RS485 to USB converter to your computer.
Navigate to Control Panel→ Device Manager→ Ports (COM & LPT)
Check if the converter driver is already installed - It should be listed as the next available COM port.
If the driver is listed under "Other devices" with a warning sign, this means the computer did not recognize the device, and the drivers should be installed manually.
Right click on the “
FTR232R USB PORT” under the “Other devices” and select “Update Driver.”
The “driver installation wizard” will open.
Select "
Browse My Computer for drivers - Locate and install driver software manually" to select the files previously installed on your computer.
Navigate to the location of the download Driver file.
Unrar the file.
10. Find the folder which is relevant to the OS that you have on your PC:
11. Check the Device Manager and ensure the connector is added to the list of USB ports (as displayed in step #4).
