Preparation
Before you get started make sure you have the following:
Project’s Wiring diagram - Provided by Galooli Support.
CE Transducer CE42 Meter
The power source of +12V DC to power the Galooli RTU
The power source of 220VAC to power the AC CE42 meter
Electrical wires
Electronic tools – screwdriver, Multimeter, & f-crimp tool
Additional information:
The device is designed to be installed on a din rail
Make sure that you have sufficient space for its mounting
We recommend mounting the AC meter next to phase breakers - this act can simplify the process of disconnecting the cables from the breakers, passing the load cables through the meter, and then connecting them back to the breakers.
Connecting the AC meter
Before defining the ID of the sensor, we need to make the necessary wiring connections between the AC meter and the computer.
Connect the device to a +12V DC power source.
Verify that the red LED starts blinking – indicating a successful power connection.
Connecting the AC Meter to the Elara
After you have configured the ID of the device, you can now connect the AC meter directly to the Elara unit.
Disconnect the RS-485 cables from the USB to the RS-485 converter.
Connect the RS-485 cables to the Terminal Blocks of the Elara tray.
The terminal number on the AC
Terminal number on the AC | Description | Functionality |
7 | DC +12V power input | Powering Meter |
8 | DC GND | Powering Meter |
15 | Elara’s terminal block Orange A data port | Serial RX data |
16 | Elara’s terminal blocks Blue B data port | Serial TX data |
Install the Phase Lines through the AC Meter
Safety:
Before installing the load cables and connecting the voltage lines, it is necessary to cut off the AC power. Once the wiring procedure is completed, you may turn the AC power back on.
Any electrical installment should be carried out only by a certified high voltage electrician.
After setting up all the SW configurations, we can start with the actual phase line installment.
The AC power meter is designed to operate on 1 à 3 phase system.
For three-phase installations, all three load cables should pass through the AC meter to the load.
For single-phase installations, only one load cable passes through the AC meter to the load.
Disconnect the phase wires from the circuit breakers.
Insert the phase power lines through the designated holes on the AC meter
a. IA = phase 1
b. IB = phase 2
c. IC = phase 3
Note - If the phase cables do not fit through the holes, refer to the CT rings sections.
Reconnect the phase power lines to the original circuit breaker location.
For each phase line, append a wire and connect it to the designated voltage terminal on the AC meter
a. Phase 1 to terminal 1
b. Phase 2 to terminal 2
c. Phase 3 to terminal 3
Append the neutral wire to terminal 4 on the AC meter.
Terminal number | Description | Functionality |
1 | AC Phase 1 Voltage wire | Measuring voltage |
2 | AC Phase 2 Voltage wire | Measuring voltage |
3 | AC Phase 3 Voltage wire | Measuring voltage |
4 | AC neutral wire | Measuring voltage |
7 | DC +12V power input | Powering Meter |
8 | DC GND | Powering Meter |
L1 | Phase 1 voltage Wire through hole - IA | Measuring current |
L2 | Phase 2 voltage Wire through hole - IB | Measuring current |
L3 | Phase 3 voltage Wire through hole - IC | Measuring current |
16 | Elara’s RS-485 B data port | Serial RX data |
15 | Elara’s RS-485 A data port | Serial TX data |
Please note the following:
Observe the polarity arrows that show the direction of the current flow on the side of the meter.
Reversed polarity will result in a disconnection of the meter.
AC Load lines pass through the CT rings provided to the load as shown below.
4. Voltage lines are connected to the lower inputs 1, 2, 3, and 4 terminals.
CT Rings Installation
In a situation where the phase wires do not fit the in the AC holes, we will need to use the CT rings to view the current information from the phases.
Unscrew the top of the CT ring with a small screwdriver.
Cable dimensions:
a. Minimum cable thickness 4[mm] or 0.04.”
b. Maximum cable length 30[cm] or 1.18.”
Uncover the wire’s plastic insulators.
Connect one side of the cable to the CT ring.
Pass the cable through the relevant AC Meter phase holes.
Connect the cable to the second connection in the CT ring.
Once you are done with all the connections, go back to the
