Sometimes, two or more rectifiers are deployed on a site for operational reasons. Therefore, Galooli allows the integration of two or more rectifiers into a single Galooli Elara gateway. As the Elara gateway only has one ethernet port, a ethernet switch can be used to accomplish the mission.

Required Equipment:

  • Computer

  • RS485 To USB Converter & two 0.5mm thick communication cables. The length of the cables is determined by the distance between the RS485 to the USB converter and the computer

  • Screwdriver (Slotted & Phillips)

  • SIM Card

  • SD Card

  • Elara Gateway

  • Power cables for the Elara gateway - two cables with a thickness of 0.5mm. The length of the cables is determined by the distance between the power supply and the Elara gateway

  • Power source for the Elara gateway - 12-60v

  • CISCO ethernet switch

Elara Power & Connectivity

The full installation and configuration of the Elara gateway should be completed as described in the following documentation before moving on to the next step. Elara Installation and Configuration

CISCO Ethernet Switch Power

Power the CISCO Ethernet Switch as described in the following documentation before moving on to the next step. Ethernet Switch

Connection Between the Elara and CISCO Switch

With a straight ethernet cable, connect the Elara gateway ethernet port to port 1 of the CISCO ethernet switch. Connect rectifier 1 and rectifier 2 modules to ports 2 and 3 of the CISCO switch.

Elara Configuration

  1. Open the Power Center.

  2. For the first rectifier, in the “Configuration” tab click on “Add SNMP ETH Device”. Choose the first rectifier's name and model. Ensure that all parameters are correct especially the “Device IP” and apply the changes.

The IP addresses in the images below are only examples.

  1. For the second rectifier, you should perform the same action as you did in the first rectifier, but the "Device IP" should be different, but within the same range.

  1. Click on “Write Configuration” and “Reset”.

  2. Select the "Configuration" tab, click on "Group:_Device", and then double click one of the rows appearing under "Group:_Device". Set the "Network Gateway" and the "Elara IP" in the Elara configuration window so that they will be in the same range as the two rectifiers.

As a result, both rectifiers and the Elara must be within the same range.

Rectifier CONFIGURATION

Rectifier 1: Login to rectifier 1, ensure the device IP and gate way are set to 192.168.100.100 and 192.168.100.1

Rectifier 2: Login to rectifier 2, ensure the device IP and gateway are set to 192.168.100.102 and 192.168.100.1

Once both steps are completed, the rectifiers should communicate with Elara.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The idea behind this is that of a typical LAN with multiple devices connected in the same network segment. Once the IP of all connected devices are in the same segment, they can exchange information through the switch.

For other model of rectifiers, adopting the same procedure works all the time but pay attention the IP address ranges utilized in the system.
