Introduction

Hardware (HW) installation is a unique and critical phase in deploying the Galooli solution. Unlike the ongoing remote use of the Galooli solution via web-based or mobile applications, installation is a one-time, on-site process. This phase is vital for ensuring reliable data collection and analysis from connected assets, which is key to the effective use of the Galooli solution. A successful installation helps prevent unnecessary delays and expenses, while also showcasing Galooli’s agnostic capability to connect and retrieve telemetric data from any type of device.

Goal

This document outlines the installation process of the Galooli solution, dividing it into three primary phases:

The following chart outlines the structure of the three phases described below:

image-20240924-100745.png

Pre-installation

The pre-installation phase is crucial for establishing the foundation for a successful deployment of the Galooli solution. This phase has two primary objectives:

A) To provide Galooli’s customers and partners with comprehensive information about the installation process, ensuring that all parties are well-informed and thoroughly prepared.

B) To gather detailed information from Galooli’s customers and partners regarding their technical requirements and any constraints that might affect the installation.

This collaborative approach promotes transparency, allowing all stakeholders to clearly understand the process and reducing the risk of unexpected delays or complications.

During the pre-installation phase, Galooli and its stakeholders focus on several key areas:

  • Scope: Define the total number of sites to be installed. This involves a detailed assessment of the project’s scale to ensure proper planning and resource allocation.

  • Site Layouts

    • Identify the types of assets to be connected, including specifics on power flow, communication channels, and physical connections:

    • Based on the information provided by the client in the Site Survey Form and the Physical Site Survey, the Galooli team will assess the complexity of each site’s installation, categorizing it into one of three predefined levels (see: Scope Definitions):

      • Scope 1: Simple installations with minimal complexity.

      • Scope 2: Installations of medium complexity requiring moderate effort.

      • Scope 3: Advanced installations with significant complexity and challenges.

  • Pricing: Discuss and finalize the costs associated with both essential and optional hardware (HW) and consumables.

  • Personnel: Outline the scope and structure of the installation teams.

  • Training: Define responsibilities, materials, and timelines for training the installation team.

  • Tools: Specify the necessary installation tools, and specialized equipment.

  • Consumables: Identify the consumables required for the installation.

  • Assumptions: Clarify key assumptions related to installation times, team requirements, warehousing, and customer and partner responsibilities.

By the end of the pre-installation phase, Galooli should be able to present customers and partners with a comprehensive Installation Dashboard summarizing the essential elements of the installation process.

Installation Dashboard

Galooli presents this dashboard to the customer/partner during the pre-installation phase. It serves as a clear reference point, summarizing essential details such as project scope, site breakdown by scope, and installation timeframes. The dashboard aims to assist stakeholders in grasping the overall extent of the project and planning the next steps toward installation and execution.

Installation

The installation phase centers on the essential on-site activities required to ensure that all physical components are correctly installed and fully operational. This phase is vital for establishing the infrastructure necessary for the Galooli solution to function effectively.

  1. Pre-Installation Checklist: This checklist must be completed by the Project Manager of the Installation Team before arriving on site to ensure that all preparations are in place.
    Pre-Installation Checklist

  2. Installation Form: This form must be filled out by the Installation Team on site to document the installation process and confirm that all tasks have been completed.

Post-installation

The post-installation phase focuses on verifying the successful completion of the installation and ensuring that data from the connected assets is being transmitted seamlessly to the Galooli Cloud. This phase also involves any necessary troubleshooting and final adjustments to maintain ongoing reliability and optimal system performance. The phase concludes with the customer’s approval, confirming that data streaming and validity meet the required standards.

  • Checkout Report: The on-site Installation Team is responsible for completing this report to confirm the successful completion of the installation process before leaving the site.
     Checkout Form (jotform.com)

  • Data Accuracy Validation: A data "sanity check" must be performed within 48 hours after installation, in coordination with back-office and/or NOC personnel, to validate the integrity and accuracy of the data.
    Data Validation Form

  • Customer Approval: The installation process is only considered complete upon receiving formal written confirmation from the customer’s Project Manager, confirming their satisfaction with the installation.

Scope Definitions

The charts below for each site scope are provided for illustration purposes only. The actual layout, including power flow, communication channels, and physical connections, may vary based on changing circumstances and site-specific requirements.

 Assumptions

  1. Experience-Based Estimates: All aspects of the installation, including time estimates, required consumables, and the necessary team size, are based on Galooli's and its partners' accumulated experience from thousands of installations worldwide.

  2. Basis for Installation Times

  • Installation times include all activities required for site setup, including travel time to the site, regardless of where specific tasks are performed (e.g., SIM card installation in a logistical warehouse prior to site arrival or on-site).

  • The geographical distance between sites is assumed to be no more than 50 kilometers, with travel time not exceeding one hour.

  • The distance on-site between the gateway/RTU and the assets and devices to be connected:

    • Is within a 30-meter radius.

    • Is on the same floor/level.

    • Does not require concrete work or changes to permanent infrastructure.

  1. Installation Team Requirements

  • The installation team is professional, skilled, and adequately trained, including specific training from Galooli on the required equipment installation. The team is also equipped with all necessary tools and equipment, familiar with all safety protocols, and capable of improving efficiency as they gain experience (learning curve).

  • The installation team has access to all required resources, including:

    • Consumables and tools: all necessary equipment required for the installation.

    • Transportation: vehicles capable of handling local terrain, with sufficient space for tools, hardware, and personnel.

    • Communication: tools for coordinating with site managers, supervisors, NOC teams, logistics teams, and any other relevant stakeholders. The team should be proficient in English and the local language (if different from English).

    • Quality control measures: The team must have all relevant means for on-site self-checks and completing the Checkout Report.

    • Appropriately rated circuit breakers available on-site.

  • Installation time estimates allow for unforeseen complications and additional challenges.

  • Hardware installation does not require a full site shutdown to install the AC Meter. Only the grid connection to the SMART system needs to be temporarily turned off.

  1. Customer/Partner Responsibilities

  • Site Survey: Conducting a thorough survey to understand the site's specific requirements.

  • The customer must provide active SIM cards to the installation team before installation, with a minimum data package of 80MB.

  • The customer must confirm to Galooli and the installation team, prior to installation, that the site is ready and accessible, with all necessary equipment in proper working order.

  • The customer will designate a point person on their end responsible for hardware shipment and customs.

Disclaimer

Sharing Assumptions: Galooli shares these assumptions with its partners to optimize, expedite, and facilitate the installation process. However, neither Galooli nor its partners will be held responsible, jointly or separately, for any direct or indirect costs arising from deviations from these assumptions as outlined in this document or any other related documents provided by Galooli.

Installation Times: Installation times are estimated based on Galooli's experience and may vary due to location, specific conditions, and other circumstances. These estimates do not account for factors beyond Galooli's control, such as weather, accidents, or force majeure events that may disrupt the installation process.

Warehousing Facilities: Assuming Galooli, its partner(s), and the customer have not decided differently, the customer is responsible for providing, managing, and maintaining warehousing facilities, including full access for installation teams and partners.

Permits and Approvals: The customer is responsible for assigning a contact person who will be responsible for liaising with the installation team regarding site access and ensuring that the installation team has full, unrestricted access to all facilities involved in the site installation, including logistical warehouses and the installation site itself.
