EX20 Installation and Configuration

Installation Preparation

Before you get started make sure you have the following:

  • Project’s Wiring diagram - Provided by Galooli Support

  • EX20 Gateway

  • The power source of +12V DC to power the Galooli RTU (Elara)

  • Electrical wires

  • Electronic tools – screwdriver, Multimeter, & f-crimp tool

 Additional information:

  • The device is designed to be installed on a din rail

  • Make sure that you have sufficient space for its mounting

Configuration Preparation

  • PC or laptop computer

  • Power Center installed - Click here to download. Credential info can be received from your Account Manager or Galooli support

  • ZonMax installed - Click here to download. Credential info can be received from your Account Manager or Galooli support

  • RS485 to USB converter - Refer here for driver installation instructions.

  • Project’s Wiring diagram - Provided by Galooli Support.

Note! Make sure your computer recognizes the COM port at the “Device manager”. Otherwise, install the proper driver.

It is highly recommended that you perform this step within the office before you leave for the field.

Connection to the Computer

  1. Connect the RS485 converter to the PC/laptop and connect the other ends of the wires to the terminal block on the metal box/tray.

  1. The Elara unit needs to be powered and connected as described in the following document.

  2. Locate the designated space for the EX20 on the upper DIN rail of Elara’s ShelterBox/Tray and attach the relevant cables from the terminal blocks.

Verify that the EX20 unit is connected to all of its relevant interfaces:

ID Configuration

After everything is connected, we can start the process of changing the ID of the AC meter, according to the wiring diagram.

  1. Open the Power Center.

  2. Make sure that the Ex20 is connected to the Elara tray and that the Elara is also connected to the Ex20 as described in the following document.

  3. Open the “Connect Via” dropdown menu and select “Serial COM

  4. Open the “Active Device” dropdown menu and select “Power Device

  5. Navigate to the “EX20” tab on the top toolbar.

     

  6. Click on “Set Device ID”, and a pop-up window will appear, set the ID of the Ex20 device according to your wiring diagram and apply.

  7. Click the “Write All Parameters” button.

 Elara Configuration

  1. Make sure that the Ex20 is connected to the Elara tray and that the Elara is also connected to the Ex20 as described in the following document.

  2. Open the Power Center

  3. Open the “Active Device” dropdown and Select “Elara.”

  1. Open the “Connected via” dropdown and Select the relevant “Com port.”

  1. Navigate to the “Elara” tab.

  1. Navigate to the “Configuration” tab.

  1. Click the “Read Configuration” button.

  1. Click the “Add Port-2 Device” button, and the ”ELARA-Modbus Device Configuration” window will pop up.

  2. In the “Elara – Modbus Device Configuration” fill in the relevant fields:

a. In the first “Device” dropdown list, select “Galooli”.

b. In the second “Device” dropdown list, select “EX20”.

c. In the “Physical & Virtual Device ID”, input the ID number that you have configured previously, according to your wiring diagram.

d. In “Device Baudrate” select 19200.

e. Click “Apply”.

10. Click the “Write Configuration” button.

11. Click the “Reset” button.

12. After the unit has reset, navigate to the “Status” tab, and verify that you can view that the EX20 is connected.
